8a.nu review

9b+ score for Progression by BigUP 06/10

Review/Jens: Progression by BigUpproduction is the best climbing video I have ever seen. The footage is excellent and in some shootings, they follow the climber with some kind of wire camera. You also get inside some celebs personalities and the highlight is of course the Chris Sharma but you got all the Progresser's: Ondra, Ernst, Woods, Caldwell, Robinson, Woods, Jorgeson, Segall, Honnold and Usobiaga with some nice training regimes and adrenalin screaming :-)

Downloads are available from the BigUp site.
Hope we can get the DVD in SA soon, any news from the retailers (MMO,City Rock etc..) on when it will be available?
It's getting rave reviews all over the world.....

P

Its a big download though!! 1.8GB or something..
So it will probably take a year or so on my 3G..
I guess you can always order the hardcopy from overseas if you cant wait..
And apparently the extras on the DVD feature a ton of stuff from rocklands which isn't available on the download
So I'm gonna wait for it to get here and support the local scene....
Hope you enjoy MIcky, its a wicked film, more doccie than the usual "climbing porn"...
Inspiring!

I am an out of the closet climbing movie whore - and this is the best climbing movie EVER!! Gives insight into what it takes to be the "best" and some of the pressure that there guys are under. Awesome!!

My only gripe (and it is just a wee one) is the usual American nonsense about the USA being the greatest country on Earth and all the other climbing areas are merely training for the climbing in the USA (Sharma training for Clark Mountain in Spain, Jorgeson training for Bishop in England and Caldwell training for Yosemite in Rocklands).

You can buy the DVD from Big UP (or easier from CityROCK) or you can download the HD version from www.bigupproductions.com

The HD download requires some serious bandwidth and does not have the 90 mins of extras - but you do get instant gratification.

Buy it if you are at all interested in high performance and impressive routes - it really is very good.

Yep, you can pre-order it from CityROCK Shop! No problems! I guess they'll go for abouts R315 per pop, same as the other dvds .

If you really want to get you hands on the DVD, just order it on the Bigup productions website. It was delivered within 10 working days!

what a gr8 film!

The price of DVD's in this country has always interested me. if indeed CityRock will have them for about R315, it is cheaper (including postage) to order it online.

I just watched Progression. It is fantastic - it really is a glimpse into what is possible, the next level which is already being attained by a few. Some of the moves and sequences defy what I thought could be achieved on rock. Wow.

Only a few movies gets the evergreen status from me - in other words - movies that u want to watch over and over and... again:

1. First Accent
2. Sharp End
3. Front Range Freaks
4. Pilgramage
5. King Lines
6. Dosage 4
7. Hard Grit
8. And now, Progression

Am I missing one?

Obviously this is completely subjective.

My list would include The Real Thing (the DVD version is available with commentary from Ben and Jerry recorded in 2009), Stone Monkey (Johnny's commentary and the extra's are superb, especially Johnny's rants and the long feature on Indian Face), Rampage ands Pure.

I would exclude Pilgrimage and First Ascent.

I enjoyed the trad climbing in Return to Sender, Timmy O'Niel was just a bit of a pain though.
