Hi guys!
We went to Higgovale Quarry the other day (sunday 11/10/2009) and the door was locked. Does anyone know why? One could actually climb around and get in, do you think we would get into trouble if we did?!

I have heard rumors that you apparently require a permit to climb there now and that some climbers where 'chased' away recently because of the lack of permit. I'm not sure how true this is as I have also heard another rumor that they are locking it to prevent the homeless from making fires and sleeping there.

The gate was locked previously but someone decided to break it down... Apparently while we were actually climbing there. It looks like they have done a much better job this time. I'm half expecting to find a huge hole in the wall next to the gate next time I go .

I have been climbing there since the new gate has been put up and I haven't been bothered yet but it would be interesting to know what it is about.

I'm definitely keeping my printed copy on me from now on. (Thanks Paul!)

I have to be honest - I am quite happy about the gate there as it means that the place stays clean and safe and climbers can quite easily get in around the side or by abseiling from the top.
