Hi there

Myself and my partner and a couple of other crazies are starting a new sport called 'rock sprinting' involving, as the name implies, sprinting over rocks, leaping over crevasses, going as fast as u can ... check out the site www.rocksprinting.za.net

We live in the Gauteng area and are looking for areas where there are fairly even rocks, on top of koppies or in river beds, or anywhere outdoors, which have nice gaps to leap over. Places like the top of Melville Koppies are good, but this area is really unsafe, got mugged there with me woman ...

anyone got any ideas? We also need gear to protect us from small falls ...

you can write back to this forum or write to psychaderek@yahoo.co.in

schweet!!! :alien:

Dude, how does this REALLY differ from trail running ? except that you are maybe doing your ''sport' at a slightly higher speed over a much shorter distance.
Are you joking ?

A great way to break a leg while wearing a funny hat. It might just catch on!

Out-running the muggers wasn't an option!? Could be an extreme version of the sport?
Well, good luck anyway... sorry, couldn't think of any constructive info.

Just looking at the pics got my heart racing!

We've come up with a "KIT LIST" please see attached pic!

......and when sprinting over raging rapids where there is a good chance of being fully submerged the following is optional - but recommended!

Drinking Orange Juice after brushing your teeth has nothing on this!

Be safe out there! :thumleft:

Haven't reached grade 5 of your difficulty level yet though, hope to get there soon!!

I usually take my dog with.

Hey Derek

Checked out your website, one correction needed under FAQ Edmund Hillary wasn't actually the guy famous for the "because its there (mountain)" quote. He was famous for the " Bladdy hell Tenseng slow down or you will get the knighthood and I will get a bag of beans (dried)."

Bliksem, that's going fast eh! Neeeeaaauuuu!

Ja Pierre, I saw it too, but Hillary, Mallory - it's the same thing man! It even sounds the same - haha. I love your Hillary "quote" Wayne. :thumleft: I always thought climbers were a bit "alternative", but good stuff guys, at least it looks like you're having fun. What grade is it when you do it with a backpack full of climbing and camping gear?

A quick google shows he has his own tribe. The Bzwanyubz Tribe :afro:

If you take a closer look at the suit you'll see that there is an optional attachment point for your 9mm Pistol for sprinting at Chosspile - Optional

Tip: Always do warm up stretches prior to sprinting and remember to warm down by walking back up the path you just sprinted down!

Wheeeeeeee!

They've already developed some state-of-the-art kit for this in Sweden. The chap in the picture is just warming up but he's gonna break into a full on rock-sprint in a minute or two:

Is the head gear compulsory? Does it protect your brain from functioning?
