I am organizing a group to explore Ermelo, Mpumalanga and surrounds for the weekend of 16-18 September, the weekend before the boven rock rally.
Access has already been arranged with some landowners, and other are in progress.

Seeing a relatively unknown area of our country.
No tourists.
Bundu bashing.
Brand new boulder problems.
New top-rope routes.
Free accommodation.

I pray that we will also find some bolt-able sport routes.

DONT EXPECT:
Well planned access routes.
Laid out footpaths.
Drinkable water in streams.
Super high multi-pitch problems. We will not discover the next Yosimite.

The idea is to first explore, and bolt later, but if anyone feels positive and wants to bring bolts and drills you are welcome. Take note that I suggest chemical anchors and LONG bolts in our sandstone, but more on that later.

I doubt if we will see much trad potential, but bring your rack with just in case.

We can expect good boulder problems, and I am confident to find good sport routes, but do not expect multipiches, except if we explore further towards Piet Retief or Volksrust. The idea is to stay roughly within a 50km radius from Ermelo.

Crash at our possie, bring your own gear, food and sleeping bag. I expect we will need slings for toprope anchor systems.

Yeah, it is a bit far into the future, but there is a lot of planning on my side to do and I've gotta start somewhere!

GUARANTEED: Friendly locals who will help you out when old ladies bash into your car rendering it immovable.

DONT EXPECT: A place which has car to hire out. There was not a single vehicle in the whole of Ermelo for hire!
