I am not into climbing at all so please pardon any wrong terminology ...

I am busy putting together climbing equipment for use when I am hunting from treestands and other platforms. There has been a lot of discussion by hunters who are also climbers regarding the most appropriate equipment to use for such safety purpose and it is generally agreed that climbing equipment is much more appropriate than the safety harnesses generally provided by treestand manufacturers.

I am looking for the following second hand but still safe to use equipment:

[*]Compact climbing harness with leg straps that would allow me to sit down for extended periods without the straps (or padding actually) restricting circulation in my legs.
[*]Figure 8 device
[*]Three or four carabiners with locking gates.
[*]At least 15m of rope that would be used to tether me to the structure from which I will be hunting, but that may also be used to rappell down should I be unfortunate enough to fall (the fall would be more of a just "sitting down in the harnass) than falling any appreciable distance. I understand though that I may have to buy a significantly longer length as these ropes are generally quite long)

I am from the Lowveld area, but am willing to pay for postage from other parts of the country.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Hey Op,

As a climber and having previous experience with a tree climbing company I think I can help you out with all the aspects of getting into and out of the tree safely. Its not as simple as one may think, and the fact that you are in the tree for extended periods, I would not recommend a regular rock climbing harness.

Hit me up with a message if you wish to discuss...
