There is a slideshow tonight on our recent Yosemite trip. It's at the JHB MCSA clubhouse (Waverley Girl Guide Hall, cnr Scott & Stirling Str Waverley), from 19h30.

Vuvuzelas in the Valley: Yosemite Stories
1 # 6 Camelot
2 Portaledges AND 2 Vuvuzelas!
3 Haulbags
Camp 4
5 Ascents of classic 'big-wall' routes
6 South Africans
7 Thunderstorms
8 Showers (between all of us over 6 weeks)
(5).9 offwidths
...
...
and 35 pitches up El Capitan!

That's right - six South Africans have recently come back from Yosemite, and have a host of stories and pictures to share, from scary storms, to tense free-climbing, on the Nose of El Capitan, FreeRider, Half-Dome, the Rostrum, Astroman, the Leaning Tower...
More-so, we'll share some of the sacred and the profane of camp 4 that even got it declared a National Monument for cultural significance!

Thanks Margherita!

Yes we had great fun last night. Thanks everyone for coming along.

It's important to note that the MCSA, and our equipment sponsors did a lot to get us out there.
The MCSA organises and supports many great things that can't be done on an individual level - conservation initiatives, climbing and hiking access arrangements, rescue, and expeditions like ours, just to name a few...
The MCSA is not a 'they' - it's you everyone - so thank you!

We were also supported by RAM mountaineering, who represent Black Diamond, Beal, Jetboil, Nikwax and Saltic just to name a few...

First ascent also looked after us with some great kit to keep us warm and cool at the appropriate moments. Clinton is also supported by 5.10 climbing shoes.

Hector and Andrew good luck tonight - you'll have a blast - sorry we can't all be there.

Team Vuvuzela
(Clinton, Gosia, Julia, Ant, Hector, Andrew)
