Malcolm's Route
I just wanted to let you all know that today we pulled the hanger off the second bolt of Malcolm's Route at Silvermine Lower Crag. Its Not striped, it just need tightening. We did put it back up and put a nice "X" next to it in chalk. I will tighten it next time I'm up unless its been tighten already. I would prefer a rebolt

Climb for life!

Re: Malcolm's Route
Sure man, It was a scary moment. Almost resulted in a back first decking! But instead he was caught by the first bolt and kicked me in the face. But I don't mind being kicked in the face if it avoids back breaking! This is why I want ARF bolts in there, it would make it nice and easy to clean too!

Climb for life!

Re: Malcolm's Route
Hi Guys
Thanks for the heads up!
Lower Silvermine is long overdue for an ARF re-bolt.
We all enjoy the clean shiny safe new bolts but do any of us know how much work it takes to put them in?
ARF needs more volunteers....so if you enjoy clipping those news bolts.....it's time you signed up for an ARF work meet!
Always a good idea to carry a 17mm spanner with you in your bag!

I got my spanner

Re: Malcolm's Route
Could you be a bit more clear:
Did the expansion bolt come out of the hole, or was it only the hanger the unscrewed from the bolt?
If only the hanger it should be fine if simply screwed back on again.
Whoever tightens the nut onto the bolt, try not to over torque it.
Tighten it only enough so it does not come loose again.

1 -Take your 17 spanner with you.
2 - Don't clip the hanger if it's loose!
3 - Please tighten if the hanger is spinning.
Lastly as a side note, a spinning hanger does not mean the bolt is loose.
