Hi all.
My name is Simon and I'm from Australia and heading to Durban for a holiday. Research has shown me the amazing amount of rock around Durban and its got me very excited!
Wondering if there's any climbers out there willing to show me a few of there fav climbs out of Durban. I'm bringing a bit of gear so i can handle a few top rope assents, but keen for some real sports routes up too 22-23 grade. I'm staying with a friend of mine in Durban and she has a bunch of things planned for us to do, which will include some trips to some craigs, might teach her how to belay ;)
well yeah I'm 26 uni student easy going and keen to climb!
give me a hoot! I'm there all January and start of February!

hope i hear from a few locals !

Hey Simon,

Seems like the Durban crowd is ignoring you! Although a few of them are away as far as I know.
If you're keen to drive out to Howick (about an hour and a half drive) then I'm sure we can make a plan to show you Umgeni Valley, one of the best spots in KZN! It's definitely worth the drive. Howick Falls is also a spectacular venue and well worth checking out.
You can give me a call on 08four 25zero 5six94 or send an email to info(at)high-altitude(dot)co(dot)za

Cheers
Josh

Hey Josh,
Ive been reading about Howick falls, defiantly a destination on the list. I'd be super keen to drive out there!
I'll be in touch!

Was wondering if anyone was going to reply... hahaha
Do you know of a good climbing gym in Durban? Easy to meet people there to climb with.

Hi Simon,

There isn't a climbing gym in Durban, most guys train at the Durban Varsity wall, not exactly sure how it works though. I own a small climbing gym in Pietermaritzburg (about 40min from Durban) so you can always come out there. I can probably also put you in touch with climbers in the area who also climb down in Durban fairly regularly. Anyway, you can get in touch when you get here.

Cheers

Hey Simon,

There is a bunch of us Durban climbers that go out to different crags every weekend.
Give me a shout when you are in town, and I'll show you around.
Like Josh says we train at the Varsity Old Mutual Sports Hall, but it's closed for the holidays.

I have stock of the guide at my gym in Pietermaritzburg... also let me know if you're wanting to come out to the midlands, I'm sure we can make a plan to climb at some point.
