Hi there guys and girls,

I was hoping the person who this happened to would post something but I think it has left a bad taste in there mouth..

A crowd of us went to Silvermine taking some newbies and general climbing, arrived at 2/3pm Saterday (just passed) and came back later near 6:30.

On arrival at the parking lot a Toyota Tazz was broken into and the radio stolen, with a few other items! Has this happened to anyone else??
The people it happened to spoke to the rangers, doesnt look anything will happen....

Looking forward to hear from you.

Regards,
Jahne

On weekends there are car guards, persumably they weren't there?

Oh well, now we will have to go to harder/ better crags with walkins. Damn

It happened at Lower Silvermine, parking nearest the long drop tiolet.

Anyone know of anything that could be done??
We pay entrance fee .. so in theory there should be some sort of feeling of safety for our cars and belongings.

Or am I wrong? I hope the Mountain club could help out, but I suppose this i sanparks territory-

No, you're not wrong. If you're paying to drive a car in, they should be making sure your car is safe. I guess a temporary solution is to park at the more popular top parking?

there are often car guards at the Silvermine MAIN/Blaze parking lot. haven't ever seen one at Lower. Please do us all a favour and report this crime to SAPS and to TMNP park management.
Not that something will happen. Right now they are pretending that that crime is on the decrease and that our fees are doing something useful. Btw, ever seen a ranger at Silvermine ever do anything useful except collect money or stand at the gate half an hour before closing time?
