A Purcell Prusik is a related cord popular among cavers and rope-rescue people. A somewhat longer loop than the normal Prusik is used around the rope, then a second Prusik is used around the cord loop itself to form a foot loop. The foot loop is then easily adjusted in length and position.

I know it as a lanyard, that is a closed system fixed to the harness (rope tie in).
Were a prussic forming a part and integrated in the lanyard,
wraps around the lanyards extension, making it a closed system.
The prussic part of the lanyard can be adjusted and in turn adjusts the
length of the lanyard.
It also 'slips' under higher loads, creating a dynamic.

Edit - Some context...
It was suggested as a means of protecting oneself,
on a traverse section of a via-feratta.
Were the safety cord runs above the individual, and the purcell lanyard
can be adjusted so as to keep a minimum amount of slack in the system.
