Yebo yes.
Rock climbing in Swaziland is in its pioneering infancy. So far there is only one crag with bolted routes on it (above an international school in Mbabane - since Feb 2011). We're looking to explore more areas, and already have some crags in mind. Seeing as we're all a bunch of amateurs here, what we're lacking is a critical eye and bolting gear (and someone who knows what they're doing).
So this is an open invitation to anyone out there looking for some pioneering adventure, and who can come armed with a gun and some bolts! There is a hostel called Lidwala Lodge that is looking to offer basic climbing and abseiling to their guests and volunteers. They are willing to cover the costs of the bolting and put up a couple of people in their lodge for a full weekend. Can check out their website at

Swaziland is full of exposed granite rock, though unfortunately most of is its very sharp and flaky. That said, there is a lot of it.... therefore lots of potential.
