Hi

I was just wondering. Should'nt top-rope belaying, leadclimbing, leadclimbing belay and cleaning route be one of the first things that are taught when starting out in a club? Because as I am aware it should be the first things learned...

And when it comes to training,is once a week at the climbing wall enough to learn footwork, moves and basic skills???

Just curious to know, as always. :)

it depends what level you would like to climb at

everything takes a little bit of time to build up and be better at

best thing to do is find a climbing partner and hit some real rock then that will give you an idea of what you what to do or just have fun

Hi Fairy,

Those are definitely the first things that should be taught.

As regards to training in the gym, obviously you will build up the strength, technique and learn better footwork faster, if you spend more time in the gym. I would recommend twice a week, this allows a days rest in between sessions to recover and helps build up strength. I have found that one session a week isnt enough to sustain your strength.

Hope this helps.

Wes
