Alex Honnold and Hans Florine set a new speed record of The Nose on El Cap today (Sunday, 17 June) with a time of 2hrs, 23mins, 46secs, which is 13 minutes faster than the previous record by Dean Potter and Sean Leary in 2010.

They attempted the speed ascent a couple weeks ago and missed it by 45 seconds.

This is after Alex (mostly) free solo'd El Cap, Half Dome and Mt Watkins in 18 hours about 2 weeks ago. What a legend.
