It seems BD might be abandoning the C3 design (3 lobes, internal triggers, stiff stem) in favour of the 4 lobe, flexible stem small cam design. More like the Mastercam/Alien...except, it also looks like they're using the double axle design used in the C4 to provide the same large range.

those two pictures are interesting: you can see the one has Nylon linking the trigger to the lobes, while the final product has wire. Alien VS Predator

While we are on the subject, has anyone figured out how Wild Country managed to get "up to 20%" range on their helium friends? While keeping the magic 13.75 degree cam angle and a single stem? The way BD solved it for the predators will obviously only work on small sizes. Besides, the way the guy in the video talked about it, it seems BD is quite chuffed with their invention, so it would suggest they thought of it and didn't just copy Wild Country. I'm just a little suspicious about a claim that makes no sense.

I dunno, maybe I'm having a blonde day, but I'm really not sure how the "stacked axle" works... Seems to me if you reduce the distance between the axles you will reduce the range...

The reason they need to "stack" the axles is that two discrete axles would make the cam too big for the size that piece is meant to protect. All they have done is put the dual axles really close together so tehy get the advantages of a traditional dual-axle design. They just happen to have put the axles so close together that they overlap - becoming one component.

also some good news for all you C3 lovers, the rumor is that they will not be discontinuing the range. Apparently the narrow head is still very useful for aid climbing.
