I've been hearing that Montagu is flooded again. Have their excavations helped? I'm guessing that the Bad Kloof path will have to be rebuilt again.

Just about to post some pics... but yes, we're under water and cut off from the world
The excavations have helped get the water through the town faster but its still raining heavily here and upcountry (which is where most of the flood water comes from).

More pics to follow shortly.

That's taken looking down Cogmanskloof toward Ashton from somewhere downstream of the town entrance?

Correct Nic. The entrance (Voortrekker) bridge to Montagu is on the left and the Steeple can be seen above the sand ramp (in between the two bushy trees).

Hey Justin, wondering if you think its worth coming through this weekend? Do you think De Bos is now a swimming pool? We are planning on coming up to check out some farms and climb a bit if possible.
Thanks

Hi Craig,
I reckon it will be fine to come through. They are busy clearing the road to Ashton right now.
Just bear in mind that there is a little rain scheduled for Saturday  Montagu Weather
De Bos is 100% - no damage at all.

It's a fair trade off for not having to sit in traffic :)

I would argue that a torrent of cars and a torrent of water amounts to a similar thing.

Be interesting to see Badkloof. Wonder if the river gods have decided favourably on Waterworld....

The Cogmans Kloof is open at certain times - right now it is closed and will open early (first light) tomorrow morning.

I tried to get to De Bos but the road was blocked by a raging torrent! Luckily we weren't planning on spending the night away from home so it wasn't a train wreck.
The river is HUGE!

Very true, but next time you feel the need to get to that side of the river take the alternative route...

Turn around at the raging torrent, drive forward
Turn left into Barry Street (bird damn on your left)
Follow the road to the left
Drive over the drift (the drift takes you over the rive - large white pedestrian bridge on your left)
Turn left into Middle Street (dirt road)
Turn left into Brown Street
Turn right into De Bos

Took a walk into Bad Kloof this afternoon and there is still a fair amount of water coming down the kloof. Waterworld has no base at the moment, the good news is that the rivers flow has diverted away from the crag.
Lionsaid is much the same as it was before (mostly water at the base). All the other crags should be fine.

If you walk into the kloof expect to get your feet wet. Also note that you will need to park and walk over the drift as it is not passable by vehicle or go in from the Springs side.
