I am beginner climber who really wants to expand my climbing horizons.

Here is the story. I recently became a dad, and I own and run my own tree care business. These 2 factors combined, makes it extremely hard for me to get a climbing partner, as I never have a set schedule, and thus, it is virtually impossible for me to set up dates far in advance.

I have not been climbing for a while, as a new born takes a lot of time (something I discovered very recently). Now I am ready to get back into climbing, focussing on developing my climbing skills.
I have done mostly sport climbing. I can lead a 14/15 and have top roped up to grade 17 sport routes. Most of my climbing was done at the Higgovale Quarry, Lakeside Pinnacle and Silvermine.

My first and only experience with trad was at the Tradathon (March 2012) this year, where I did a Intro to trad, following workshop, we did some first and second pitches of some routes, and also Arrow Final. I really enjoyed the climbing, and would really like to have more exposure/experience in the trad field.

Thus, my immediate goals are:
• To get better at sport climbing, by climbing as much as possible.
• Really get into trad.

So, taking the above into account, I am looking for a climbing partner that:
1. Is roughly on the same level as I am with climbing.
2. Live in the CBD, or nearby.
3. Have similar goals
4. And most important, can climb/get out on short notice.

I have a sport climbing kit, and all the associated gear, but no trad gear.

read your mail and it sounds like you are on a similar level than me and you've climbed pretty much the same areas around Cape Town than I have. So, if you are keen joining up for a climb sometime, give me a call or sms me.
I, like you climb far too less. Mostly I don't have a partner, but lately its also been the bad and cold weather around town. I've got a crazy work schedule, working shifts even weekends, but which also means, I often have off in the afternoon and also during the week.
I've got climbing gear, a few quick draws and can even borrow a rope to bring.
Oh, and if the weather clears up for next week, I am planing to drive up to the rocklands on Tuesday (21.08) and stay there a few days (probably till Thursday/ Friday) as I have a few days off work, and wanna use the time wisely!!! Probably just go boulder, is the idea.....unless somebody joins me.

We seem to be a few that has climb buddy issues. This weekend seems to be open for all of us. Why don't we get together on saturday and get our climb on. Then we meet a few people on one occasion??
