Hey all,

Anyone know whether the road has bee re-opened yet?
Driving through to PE from CT on Friday and live out Northern Suburbs and prefer to head out on the N1 then onto the N2 at Swellendam :D

Cheers,
Cuan

The road is now open (the R60).

You could take the Tradouw Pass for some views, but you will then need to either double back through Suurbrak for =-15km's (to stay on a tar road) or take a dirt road (+- 25km's) to Heidleberg.

The R60 is a good alternative to the N2 (it's about 30 minutes more than taking the N2).

I just hate that stretch of road between Montagu and Oudtshoorn. It is incredibly beautiful, but feels like it is taking soooooooo long :P I took it a few times while living in George. So usually cross over to the N2 at Ashton and head straight along there. Although with the rain coming the R60 will be incredibly pretty to drive on :D
