Gauteng bouldering

Postby Josh79 » Wed Jun 12, 2013 4:15 pm

Hi all

I want to go bouldering.
Not just once or twice.
Like every weekend.
I got shoes
I got Chalk
I need boulder bro
Someone to work a problem with
Someone who understands the subtlties of a game of ADD

Are you that someone?

Josh

Are you from the Western Cape or something? You came to the wrong province to boulder, my friends travel to an undisclosed area in the Freestate because Ezemvelo is so low quality. The best I can tell you about is the Magaliesberg, there are beautiful untouched boulders scattered through the klowe.

People will tell you Ezemvelo is amazing, they haven't been bouldering yet:P If you however interested in plastic, TUKS has a club named Exploratio. Its an adventure club that owns a bouldercave (one of the best in the country for boulderers) on the sports grounds. Yearly membership is R380 and R30 for a key once your a EXPLO/MCSA member.

I suggest taking up sport climbing, its one thing we can do better than the Capies as they get lost in the boulder fields and end up with no endurance:P

Josh,

I am not sure about Ebert's assessment of Ezemvelo. I think the bouldering is of a relatively decent standard and it is fairly close to Pta and/or Jhb(<1h travelling). I think it is definitely a worthwhile mission if you are stuck in that god awful neck of the woods and keen for some bouldering.

Hey josh
I know of a lot of good climbers that will agree with me that ezemvelo is pretty decent. Im not comparing it to rocklands but for a place that's close to JHB, its definitaly worth a try. Go check out brian weavers blog. I think he posted some photos of cool boulder problems! :thumleft:
Those who say it can't be climbed should get out of the way of those who are climbing
it
