Gear stolen from car Muizenberg

Did you forget you favourite boots at the crag? Or, did you find some quickdraw on the 4th bolt of some route?

Gear stolen from car Muizenberg

Post by chrisjunker » Tue Apr 18, 2017 12:36 pm

Hi Climbers!

Sadly all my gear was stolen from my car this morning in front of my house.

It was all in a Jansport Black bag
Gear includes,
Purple Evolv Shoes
La Sportiva Mythos Shoes
Petsol Harness
Another Harness
12 Quick Draws of different brands
A couple slings and clips.

Also was my Western Cape Rock Climbing guide 2015 with my name on the first page.

Please if anyone has any info or finds someone selling this gear get a hold of me on 0833462026!
Any help would be much appreciated

That sucks :( sorry
Where in Muizenberg did this happen - and have you reported this to the Muizenberg Police and shared on the Muizenberg Community forums?
If you provide a few more details - where, when, how etc - I would be happy to share for you.
Hope you get some of it back.

Good morning!

I have told the police and they came to have a chat, I told them to put out a word that a R1000 reward was there if anyone brought it back.

I haven't posted anything on the community forums, I would really appreciate if you could do that :)

It happened yesterday morning the 18th of April at around 10:30am. Car parked outside my home in Alexander street. They pushed down my window and stole a black rucksack with all my climbing gear, two sleeping bags one grey and one green and a three man tent. I was on my way to go climbing i just stopped at home to fetch some water. Its really sad how this can happen at such a time of day!

I hope I get it back I have a feeling I will!

Thanks for your help Zoed!

Hi,

Haha no ways I live at number 37. You'll see my bukkie with a "stolen climbing gear" sign.
Ive asked the security and some of the guys I see walking around to put a word out about the gear and the reward.

Message from Heide Good (Muizenberg Notice Board):
Zoe, ask Christian to chat to the carguard couple with the dog in the Pavilion car park. Maanie and Lita - very helpful and know "everything" about this kind of incident in the village. Much more knowledgeable than SAPS:)

guys not that we should have to live like this, but NEVER leave stuff visible inside your car, no matter how short the time. They will break in to steal a jersey or a car charger, let alone a rucksack with mystery contents. Holding thumbs it turns up.

Hi Christian,

I've posted this on the Muizenberg Community Safety Initiative Whatsapp group, which I believe is also monitored by the Muizenberg Improvement District guys. I'm hoping that your stuff is returned safely.

Hi guys

Thank you so much for the response and good wishes, spoke to every car guard in the area yesterday so hopefully they take my reward seriously.
