Climbing partner, Cape Town, June 17 to July 3rd.

Post by Romanb » Sun Jun 11, 2017 3:49 pm

Hey group.
I'll be flying over from Sydney to spend few weeks in Cape Town.
I'll only have basic climbing gear like shoes and harness with me so am trying to find a partner to share their rope and draws with me. Beers and pizza will be on me:)
I'll be staying in Simons town and will have a car. Am super keen to climb anywhere but local places like silver mine would be preferred. A trad climb on table mountain woukd be awesoke to. I climb trad but mostly sports to around 6c. Happy to belay anything really.
Would be so much appreciated if anyone could help me out or even just offer advice on how to get on some rock.
Thanks
Roman

Hi Roman

Would love to climb with you then, either PM me and I'll forward contact details, or find me on FB. I live in Claremont, been climbing for 18 years and am fully kitted for sport and trad, but a strong preference for the latter

Hey lads,
I'll coming to CT from Brisbane from the 22nd June to July 6. Keen to join if you have space for one more.
Haven't done trad unfortunately, but keen to do sport if you don't mind supplying gear. I have harness and shoes and chalk bag (would prefer to leave rope and quickdraws behind to save on weight while travelling).
Let me know what you think.
Alex.

Pretty much the same time for me too boys. 18 to 28 June. Will be Hout Bay based and probably have access to transport. Happy to climb sport and trad, up to 6b+ (SA22) sport and E1 5b (SA 19) trad. Done a bit of TM trad, and keen to do more.
Sounds like we could even bring a rack between us? The guidebook suggests a 50m single and 10 QDs will do 90% of the routes up to SA 22/23.

Warren, you sound nails :thumleft: . Will you not be bored climbing with the bumbly likes of me ?

A long time at something doesn't mean you're any good, just that you've been at it a while- I started on a low base...

Experience is an under rated and under valued commodity, which is kinda odd as it is your biggest asset, that nobody else can take away from you.

Hey guys, I just landed yesterday.

Sorting out a car today. Aimee if you need a lift around Cape Town when you get here let me know.

Got shoes and harness as well. I did notice yesterday however with all the clouds and condensation in the air it has made the rocks wet, so could be interesting to climb. Perhaps we could try when the sun is highest and day is warmest. Not ideal I know, but neither are wet rocks.

My local number is 0749596597.

Hi everyone! Just got to Cape Town and will be living in an apartment in Camps Bay for the next 2 months until end of August. Would love to meet some climbing partners! I've got full gear for sport (70m rope, draws, shoes, harness, etc.), so hope we can climb together sometime soon! My email is btaleisnik@gmail.com, and I'll be getting a local phone # soon. Cheers!
