Looking for outdoor climbing partners / groups

Post by autrumregina » Sat Sep 09, 2017 7:40 pm

Hey guys,

My boyfriend and I recently moved from JHB to CPT.

He has been climbing for awhile now and climbs 19 to 21s indoors.
I started climbing at CityRock in JHB in August and climb 17 to 19s.

We don't know any other climbers here and would love to connect with some who would be keen for week day or weekend outdoor adventures.

I haven't climbed outdoor yet, but Greg has and we both have everything except rope.

Hello guys,

I am very new to this forum, just created the account for looking for outdoor climbing partners, and bam! I see your message.
I also just arrived to Cape Town with my girl friend Sandra (we are both from France).
She has little experience outdoor, and climb around 17-18 at City Rock. I have had many experiences outside (including around 20 multi-pitch routes) but never in SA yet -- and I climb around 22-23 at CityRock.

Maybe we could meet one night at CityRock this week to have a first experience climbing together? That would also allow us to organise an outdoor session. I have everything needed for climbing outdoor, including a 50m rope and plenty of quickdraws. Would wednesday be OK for you ?

Cheers,
Ulysse

Hi Ulysse,

That sounds great but I'll be in Rwanda from Wednesday for a week.

How long are you in South Africa for?

One year -- we have time !
We can then either meet on Tuesday or wait until next week.
Or, if Greg is looking for a belayer while you are in Rwanda, it could be me (I'm on my own this week, my girl friend comes back from France on Sunday).

Oh awesome :)

Let's meet up when I'm back.

What's the best way to get hold of you? Should I Whatsapp you or drop you an email?

Hi Lauren

Just pitch up at Lower Silvermine during a weekend on a good-weather afternoon and start chatting to people - found the climbing crowd to be generally welcoming & accommodating.
City Rock is also a great place to meet other climbers.
Welcome! :thumleft:
