Hey everyone, I'm am a 20 year old from the UK and I'm thinking of moving out to South Africa to try and experience all the amazing things I've heard about it, but firstly I'm super pysched on checking out the Rocklands for the months of July/August. I was wondering whether anyone had any advice, help and info on whether this was a good time to go there? Is there a scene at the campsite? Could you survive without a car once your there??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. My plan is to also hang out in Cape Town, but I havn't got any sort of idea as to what climbing is there. Thanks for your time and convince me SA is the place to be!

Answers to your Q's:
Rocklands in July/August? - yes that's the perfect time.
Scene at the campsite? - like what a bunch of people dancing to a live band? I'm sure you'll find a couple other boulderers/climbers to bouldering/climb with.
Survive w/o car? - yes, once your there you don't need a car - but it's advisable, otherwise there is bouldering in walking distance.

Cape Town climbing? yes there loads, if you look on the internet I'm sure you see some.

cape town is the place to be!!!

loads of sport climbing, bouldering and trad all within 40min of anywhere in Cape Town. and all the crags give spectacular views of the cape that you will never get tired of no matter how mant times you frequent these places of wonder.

then there are the endless beaches... perfect to relax on after a hard days climb with a beer in one hand and one of the many beautiful women of the town in the other.

and then as you know their is rocklands not to far away... enough said.

oh yes! and there is the african sun...

No mate, you just about covered it. Good climbing, incredible isolated nature, great weather, best woman, best beaches, best beer, full stop

And compared to the UK...paradise!
