Brian Weaver sends Mutation

The weekend I opened the climb I was actually suffering from Golfer’s Elbow in my left arm. It had been a problem for the previous three weeks and I have taken the entire week off to let it rest (for me 5 rest days is psychotic).

The grade debate has always been a sore subject for most. Personally, I have always put a great deal of emphasis on sending harder, climbing the next grade and pushing the limit.

48 hours of Punishment!

We were in unexplored territory as we added a different start to the route to try and straighten it out a little. 2 pitches and 116m later we were on a big grassy ledge which resulted in a grade 7 40m traverse to the first challenging pitch.

Brian Weavers Rocklands Round Up

My bouldering highlights were the days I spent working the hard lines, like Out Of Balance (8A), Nutsa (8A) and Wittness the Sickness (8A). I spent a lot of time on these problems and all of there were within my grasp, I just was not quite up to them. I also tried Green Mamba (8A) which wasn’t too inspiring but Joe Kinder took some cool pics that illustrated my attempts…

Brian Weaver Interview

As far as climbing goes, I’d really love to do hard traditional onsights and ground up ascents of big wall routes. Sport climbing is fantastic but a little limiting in some ways. Trad just seems to offer climbers the freedom to pick a line and head for the skyline. That appeals to me on a very deep level.
