Tonight our South African Youth Climbers will proudly wear their Protea Colours at the World Youth Lead Climbing Championships.
The year of 2011 started out at full sprint and did not ease off until December. It was a year of huge achievements in competition climbing for South Africa and arguably, with international representation, the best ever.
The competitors were tested with 2 qualifying routes on the 1st day at Wonderwall and a third qualifying route at The Barn on the 2nd day.
SANCF is proud to announce that the following Youth team members will be heading to Imst Austria to compete in the Youth World Cup which will run from 25 – 28 August.
The Open Day is aimed at encouraging youth aged between 12 and 18 to try climbing and learn about the sport. It is an opportunity for your children to invite a non-climbing friend to try it out.
The youth had been invited to compete in a selection competition in the hopes of being chosen to become part of the SA youth team and get the opportunity to compete overseas in August.
Youth climbers from all over South Africa will compete for a place in the South African Team, who will be travelling to Reunion in February 2011, to compete against the French Team.
