We were greeted by a great Africaans farmer called Alwyn who managed the site. He was happy that we were staying and in no time at all we were in his bakkie (africaans for pick-up truck) getting a ride around the site as he showed us all the different cliffs.
This has been a weird year for me in terms of climbing. The year started off with a pull injury, progressed to a broken finger / ligament tear and then ended with a major knee surgery.

Matt Bush one of South Africa and the world’s best free solo climbers had recently made a trip out to Water Fall Boven, where he expressed “Freedom Of Movement”
This was everybody’s first time on a highline. It was a daunting 30m line that was wonky at its best. I loved the energy and enthusiasm. Well done everybody!
People were simply on the rock because they enjoy climbing, the only difference is that they just had a little more motivation.
The Boven Mountain Festival 20 14 wasn’t even an idea 5 weeks before the start of the adventure night race on Friday the 3rd of October. A week later we had talked enough about it to make it official. The idea was born.
Well done to everybody getting good shots through, it was not easy to pick out the 3 winners as listed down below.
