Makapansgat is a wild trad venue near Makapane (Potgietersrus). The climbing is on a natural quartzite amphitheatre around a sheer waterfall. There are deep swimming pools, very exposed and beautiful camping, easily assessible crags and lots of new route potential in an area laden with recent and ancient history.

The JHB MCSA has re-negotiated access to this area after it was closed for many years to climbers. Access is for MCSA members and their guests only. Contact the MCSA for access details, directions and RD's.
