ARF at Fawlty Towers – Poor Turnout

Another day’s work accomplished by the ARF stalwarts and friends.

Well for those of you who are expecting Fawlty Towers to be covered in shiny new bolts – sorry but due to the poor turnout, we were only able to rebolt 4 routes and were unable to clean these routes. Many many thanks to the usual suspects for pitching up:

– Ben Bohm (again)
– Douw Steyn (again)
– Mike Scott (again)
– Steve & Lizelle from Paarl
– Thanks to Guy Holwill for the drill

It would seem that there is an expectation in the Cape Town climbing community that someone else will take care of the problem. Its particularly disappointing to get such a poor turnout when quite a few climbers who have done fvck-all and haven’t even donated any cash, have whined about trivial things such as glue spillage, bolt positions, old bolts left in position, bolts not countersunk completely and progress not speedy enough – WTF? Remember that bolts breaking is a real and present danger and can end your climbing career or life. We are relying on you, our climbing brothers and sisters to help with ARF – the next time you clip one of the new bolts, ask “what have I done to help put this bolt in?”
