Yesterday two boulderer’s had a minor run in with the Paarl Reserve authorities. Nothing too major, however the park personnel stressed that visitors must please adhere to the open and close times of the reserve.
The two were reprimanded for being in the park after closing time and sent off with a warning.

The reason for the strict times is that there has been a rise in illegal activity at Paarl (the town included), this includes vandalism, car break-in’s (within the park), house break-in’s (with the guys using the mountain reserve as a getaway route) and not to forget the all popular muggings!

You have been warned, please don’t take valuables climbing with you and try not to leave anything in the car.

So as not to give climbers a bad name, please be off the mountain by closing time.
Armed response appear to be on patrol in the area.

The Paarl visitor  hours are:
Summer:
07h00-19h00
Winter: 07h00-18h00

  1. I hadn’t heard anything about actual muggings, theft or the like at Paarl Rocks itself? Can you confirm that this occured recently at Paarl Rocks?
