Kilian Fischhuber climbing at the Wow Prow in South Africa

Kilian Fischhuber recently visited South Africa’s incredible sandstone cliff, the Wow Prow, in order to attempt the second ascent of Digital Warfare 8b+/33. The first ascent was logged last year by the American Paige Claassen while on an around-the-world tour of tough sport climbs.  She was told about the route by its bolter, Andrew Pedley, one of the the Wow Prow’s developers.

Andrew calls the Prow ‘the most brilliant rock I’ve ever seen‘ and named the route because of the strain its many small pockets put on the finger digits.  Get it?  Digital Warfare was voted the best new route of 2013 – no surprise once you’ve seen it.  In this clip Kilian makes it look like a warmup in what is surely one of the most impressive single pieces of climbing we have witnessed this year.

  1. Very Cool video. My only comment would be, and this is a personal thing as opposed to criticism, I would rather hear natural sound as opposed to music as a backing. (Or possibly very low music under the visuals) Many of my mates produce speedflying / wingsuiting vids with thumping backing tracks as well, and so much is lost when you dont hear the natural sound. 🙂 Just my opinion, but as I say, loved the vid!

  2. Ace movie Ruan and co. You guys have so much psyche. Pity he made it look like 8a. One day I gotta go send that route, wish it was closer. Andrew

  3. Absolutely KICK ASS vid!

  4. Thanks Adrew P and Brian, @ Jeff, we also prefer a natural sound but on the 2 days we spent there we has maybe a 2sec gap of no wind and the rest of the time we were blowing away with wind so the call was made to add a back track rather than ggggggssssshhhh the hole video. but thanks for the advise as we will always take room for improving on our vids.
