Hey all. Just an update. All is on for this Saturday at Chospile. For the first and last ever Chosfest! Some info below in no particular order:
The format of the day is relaxed, just a day at the crag, open to all, members or non members, all R20 paid at Mount Amanzi reception.
MSAR rescue demo on the cards, need a willing MSAR member, please!!
Mt Amanzi will be making boerie rolls and serving beers, soft drinks in picnic site from about 3.30 pm.
We have couple thousand bucks to give away; prizes are:
– highest flash attempt on cock or bollock (30)
– 2nd highest flash attempt on said route.
– hardest try on above!
Then a prize to the other climbers, to whomever has the best day on the crag (most climbs, hardest ever send or whatever). We will decide the winner around the braai.
Ruan the legend Kotze of RUKO media will be filming the comp.
We have a loudspeaker. Brian Weaver will be commentating.
Deanne and Grant will be helping beginner climbers try out there skills on rock.
Neil Margetts will be guiding a Hike for those keen on sweating up the mountain for a couple of hours. Hikers meet in picnic area car park, by climbing sign at 0900.
We will have forms to join the MCSA.
There’s no real schedule, but try be at Mt Amanzi from 8 am, especially the competitors who should sign in with me at the crag by 0830 latest. Competitors in the Flash for cash are:
David Wade, Dylan Vogt, Evan Margetts, Falco Filotti, Greg Borman, Griven Roering, Ivan Van der Tang, Jahne Theron, Alex Bester, Steve Bretheric. Others welcome to try but no guarantee will be time.

“The CHOSSFEST will be on Sat 18 October, at… THE CHOSSPILE.
It is going to be a chilled fun day with some great things to watch. Loads of people coming and its R20 for everyone that day, and no need to be a club member, its open to all.
There will be a flash for cash for 8-10 of the stronger climbers; already fully subscribed.
They will try flash ‘Cock or Bollock’ at the Man Cave. R500 to the highest and R500 to the person who tries hardest!
Will be a spectacle, commentary and the lot.
Also there will be a demonstration hoist rescue, up the Man\Cave
A guided hike for those who don’t feel like climbing.
And of course people will be free to climb as much as they can, then beers and boerie rolls in the picnic site afterwards.
