Silvermine is officially open again.

Silvermine West Sport Climbing

Trish and I headed out there as soon as we heard that the place had reopened.

We have been getting a bit bored with Jacobs Ladder on Table Mountain, dare I say it.  And with tourist season in full swing, the Cable Car queues have not been pretty.

Yay!!! Silvermine is back in business! Green card works to get in, although you are supposed to have an activity permit too. we couldn’t find ours, it’s been too long since we last used it. The guard at the boom didn’t ask for it either…

New signs!

Silvermine place looks beautiful right now, with many wildflowers still in bloom.

The path down to the crags has taken a bit of a beating.

We might need to to a bit of path building. Maybe maybe TMNP will do it with our activity permit fees, who knows.

Yay! Back in business!

No sign of heat or fire on the rock, at least at Blaze.

The bolts look perfectly safe to us, actually untouched.

Heads up everyone. We were climbing at silvermine the other day. On the way back to the car we were stopped by an unfriendly TMNP chap who threatened to fine us R1500 if we couldnt produce our activity cards. We have so were let off, he wasnt happy. So just a warning, make sure you have your cards. As per usual TMNP officials are trying to make the park as unpleasant as possible whilst doing as little work as possible

Its R65 for a day permit to sport climb if you don’t want to buy an activity card.

But those crags aren’t on their land: that is why they don’t maintain the crag paths

Is there a clear board indicating fees and entry cost visible at the entrance? Something that out-of-towners will see?

Why must we have activity cards? Do we create additional burden on the park? #takebackourmountain

We need to do something! What would you suggest?
