The route is Snapdragon, grade 29 (7c+). Top climbers, Chris Cosser and Mel Janse van Rensburg have challenged each other to climb “till you drop”! The formidable Snapdragon is known all over the globe as an endurance test piece. How many times can these 2 or can they do it in 12 hours!?
All in this is in aid of raising funds for the local climbing club in Waterval Boven – The Emgwenya Climbers. The MCSA has secured some equipment for them and they are training to become a climbing force in Mpumalanga. Now we need funds to get them travelling to competition destinations in 2022. This is where you can help.
How it works
Chris and Mel will start at 10am and climb till 10pm, trying to do Snapdragon as many times as possible. You can contribute in 2 ways:
1. You can pledge an amount to be paid per combined amount of climbs. Say you pledge R10 per climb and the 2 climbers each do the climb 5 times, it will be calculated as R10 x 2 x 5 = R100.
2. You can bet on the final score like in a sports game, R100 per bet. Half of the takings will be added to the fund raiser amount and the other half will be the prize money for the closest bet.
*In order to bet a minimum donation of R1 per lap is required.
