Join The Jozi Climbing Grind at FAM

As 2024 draws to a close, Joburg’s climbers are eagerly waiting for the Friends and Allies Meltdown. The hardest and rawest climbing comp Jozi has to offer. FAM breaks from the traditional climbing competition rules and regulations. It’s all about getting the toughest climbers they can find on the walls, while the community cheers them on (and decides their fate).

A Celebration of Johannesburg's Climbing & Your FA Maats

The FA Meltdown is a testament to the vibrant climbing community that flourishes in Johannesburg. Emphasising community engagement over strict competition rules, because at FA we know it’s all about the vibe and the gees. The Meltdown invites Jozi’s toughest senders to compete, with the audience playing a pivotal role in influencing outcomes. The format of this event brings our community together, encouraging both seasoned climbers and newcomers to share in the excitement of seeing hard sends

Transition to a New Venue

This year’s Meltdown carries added significance as it marks FA’s relocation to a new location at 304 Tungsten Road, Strydom Park. The climbing scene in Gauteng has grown tremendously over the last few years and the move reflects FA’s commitment to providing world-class bouldering facilities for the climbing community. The new venue boasts state-of-the-art walls, diverse climbing routes, and improved areas for chilling with the tjoms.
