Tree Noob

Post by blankster » Mon Apr 30, 2012 9:16 am

Hi,

I've always been a bit ape for trees, and have started expanding to proper/ safer climbing techniques. I initially started with normal climbing gear to get the basics down but starting to see the limitations of this gear. Need to upgrade a few things and looks like rope access gear is the way to go. Any tips on gear in the SA context would be much appreciated. Like what fullbody harness, Crol or expert II or other?

Rope access gear (and possibly beyond) is what you want to use (assuming that you won't just be pruning the roses?
Bear in mind that the type of forces you will be dealing with are going to be different to what happens with rock climbing.

Check out Tree Climbing Etc on Youtube for techniques and other stuff.

And out of interest:

Definitely will do pruning on my trees as the gear opens up better options for wrt safety to myself and property( escpecially my neighbors). But mostly just want to hang around :)
