The Garden Route, Wolwerivier Access

Post by TheChris »

Hi all

Does anyone know about who to contact regarding access to Wolwerivier?
The two contacts I found, Rob Stewardson (Climbza wiki) is from 2009 and Greg Devine (Western Cape Rock guide book) is from 2015 so I'm not sure if Greg is still the person?

Lastly, has anyone climbed there recently?

Thanks

There are access details on the PDF guide. Should be current.

I climbed there a month ago and a group of us are going there this weekend. The guide shared below has accurate details.

Good crag but pricey.

WRT the price. At R150 per day, the crag falls into my "extortion" category and will never see my support. Just my feeling, not debating it. :puker:

I would say it's worth at least checking out once. The climbing was good and well worth the visit but I won't go back due to the price of the permit.

NB: if you do go climb, watch out for the wasps, they have small nests all over the place, and we had a few visiting tree snakes at the base of the main area.

If you're in the area it may be worthwhile to contact the managers and see if you can negotiate a package deal or something; it really is a superb crag with potential for some HARD routes as well....

Check out their web page; https://www.swartvleiee.co.za/

On the rock climbing tab there is a number that is the current correct number for reception.

Great place, worth the R190 that they charge.

1987... hahaha

The trad sends were in 1987, retro-bolted in 2004.
