Jhb to Rockland's stop over suggestions

Hi guys!

I was wondering if any climbers could suggest a nice (cheap) place to stop over at when traveling from jozi to Rockland's!

We very happy to camp to save money and we are 3 people.

A suggestion for the reverse trip stop would also be appreciated.

The National Parks campsites are cheap and clean. It all depends on your route. If you're taking the N1, then Karoo National Park is great.

Gariep dam is a nice past-halfway stop on the way back; campsites and ablution at the Forever resort are really nice and cheap.

For the drive down you can push through to Karoo National Park. I don't know of any nice campsites in between Gariep dam and Karoo NP on the N1.

Why not drive straight through?

Ive done this trip over 20 times, mostly solo, never slept over but have stopped to take a nap in a few spots at petrol stations. Multiple people makes it super nice and easy to swap over and take short driving shifts.
