A discussion piece of who, how, where and what SANParks are doing with the funds they pull from Table Mountain.
Recreational users of the Mother City’s most famous landmark have demanded answers to questions about a deluge of surplus revenue that has left the reserve, apparently buckling under a mountain of problems.
SANParks has denied Friends of Table Mountain's (FoTM) claim that the leading mountain user group was snubbed during a Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) information sharing field trip held by the public entity last month.
Thanks Justin for the share.
Andy doing the tough work! Well done on calling them out Andy and continually pushing for answers and everything.
As a (relatively) outside observer, it really does appear that the previous TMNP promotional video was just a marketing skit and really didn't address many of the concerns Andy and FOTM had raised. Now this exclusion...

There's a long history of issues, broken promises, not being accountable and outright lies. TMNP must be the most difficult park to manage in SA and SAN Parks (good or bad) will need all the help they can get. It behooves all mountain users to set aside a portion of their "mountain time" on monthly basis to assist in the upkeep of the park - litter, invasive plants, crime etc. is a continual issue and 6-monthly actions are simply not enough (albeit a definite positive).
Please join groups like FOTM; in due course actions will be launched to facilitate public involvement while the battle for proper park management is being fought on a different level.
