Does anyone have any beta from getting from Johannesburg to Waterval Boven without a car? I will be flying in with all my climbing/camping gear and my mountain bike. Is public transportation advisable? Could I ride my bike from the airport to Boven and make that a small adventure? Any input would be great. I plan on camping at Tranquillitas for 2.5 months and looking to climb trad and sport wherever I possibly can. I will also be looking for partners for both as well. Thanks!!

My 2c worth

Public transport sucks generally between towns
Good train system from airport to Johannesburg, Centurion and Pretoria which are main hubs for people going to Boven.
Best option is to hook a ride with others going to Boven from those hubs.
It's a 3 hr drive by car.
Riding from airport is not a great idea due to traffic and metropolitan surroundings and although it may be an adventure, it is not worth it.
Rather get there and enjoy the countryside.

Keep posting here for when you are looking for lifts as well as to the FB page for people looking for lifts to Boven on"SA Climbers Lift Club"
