Kleinmond and Hangklip Trad
Hi there
Does anyone have an RD for the trad area at Kleinmond crag and Hangklip? Or at least point me to the correct journal to check?

I can narrow it down to the 50's journals for Jeff Goy's articles on Hangklip and Klein Hangklip early routes

Thanks for that. I'll see if I can find my index. I really need to put some effort into putting the RDs on the Wiki if I find them

Please do! I have added the main stuff for Du Toits (needs pics thou), as well as Apostles. This Wiki is the most valuable asset South African Climbers possess. If everyone contributes their own little bit it could be amazing!

Nic, if you have climbed at Hangklip, are there any routes that are especially commendable? I often pass that way, and it would make an awesome setting to climb.
I was not aware that Kleinmond had any trad areas. Where are they and is there any route information on them?

It is fun country climbing in a stunning setting. I'd recommend it, yes. You do have to watch for blister bush and loose rock...
The trad at Kleinmond is mostly single pitch stuff. It's the next cliff up the hill from the top sport climbing. Continue up and to the right. I've climbed there only once before, and if I recall correctly the rock quality was excellent. I haven't yet found an RD for the trad areas.

I've been eyeing that upper crag for a while now. If you say the rock quality is excellent, do you reckon it has bolting potential?

It's a trad area with trad routes. Lets just say that the bolting potential is zero. There's more than enough sport climbing on the sport crags.

There used to be a topo on RAM mountaineering's site, but doesn't seem to be there anymore.
I might have it somewhere, but not even sure where to start looking.
4 or 5 routes in the high 10, low 20 range. I think there's also one open project left.

Re: Kleinmond and Hangklip Trad
Thanks Philp.
I've updated the photo topo on the Wiki for Groot Hangklip. The lines should be taken with a pinch of salt especially for the Hangover Ridge, Cape Pushover, Hangklip Wall and Cosmic Crypt lines as the RDs for those are somewhat vague and I've not climbed them all.
I've heard rumours of a route that goes at ~18 that climbs the central line between Darwin and Shipley's Frontal, if any one has any beta that would be great, otherwise it looks like a fantastic line for someone ambitious.
