That is Ebert's new King Line in Boven! It's underneath the waterfall, LITERALLY. Could be hard. 45m of climbing 37m vertical. Ebert thinks it could be up to 8c / 34. Looks like RRG!!!

34m vertical (exactly) , about 45 my of climbing (guesstimate). Best line I've ever seen. 12 bolts + chains. Over 3 weeks it's been cleaned, brushed while in flood and bolts glued in. Finally this week it might be dry (needs 3 days of no rain to be dry). Can't wait. Overhanging all the way. No ledges. No small credit card holds. All the holds are incut and rounded juglets. Best line in Boven if not South Africa by a long shot.

Ts&Cs:
1. Only open to South Africans.
2. Not open until the bolters (Ebert Nel and Hannes de Meyer) have had one go on it. Probably go this weekend.
3. Dont complain about the bolting style, learn to climb and clip when you have a chance or bring some gear along to shorten the lead-outs. Its safe though.
4. Respect the project name or at least find out why it was given that name.
5. If you get onto our open project you agree that you'll never have a closed project to South Africans again. No exceptions. If you get on it, your projects are free game on the same Ts&Cs forever.


This is the next generation bringing back old school rules. Its time to raise the SA standard. By giving the crushers motivation to open their lines to the community, I believe we will start working together, pushing one another to transcend our abilities to the next level.

This line is worth it.

Here's my Ts and Cs;

1) I live in Scotland
2) I never climbed harder than 26, and that was a prolonged redpoint late last century.
3) I'm now in late 40s
4) I've not tied on for any route in then last 8 months, indoors or outdoors.
5) I've lost my South African ID book many years ago.

Stashed a Dirtbag / sandbag behind some rocks a few meters upstream of the safety bolt. The sandbag is ideal to block the true right notch of the waterfall. This stops a tiny stream (that wets the final holds) going to the far true right when the waterfall is close to ideal height. If it rains on Wednesday/thursday it will be wet for the weekend.

Haven't been able to try it due to all the late week rain as of late but no point in trying to keep this one from being tried. So if you comply with the rest of the conditions feel free to try out our proj. Draws are hanging. Sandbag is waiting. The first ascent is free game

I had a bouldering project on the coast near here, and had to go and siphon the rock pool at the top of it every time it rained to stop cracks seeping. it worked though!.

So Johann and I were caught by Robert and Trish climbing on Hout Bay Corner over the weekend, does anyone know whats been opened in that area? There is nothing on the wiki, nor could Johann find anything in the Journals, however in Tony's Peninsula Select there is a picture of people climbing that wall (under the Bee Buttress chapter).

As someone who enjoys single pitch trad finding this sort of info is very important. Thanks!
