Home walls

Post by HJordaan » Fri May 15, 2020 12:37 pm

Hey guys

So lets see those home caves/climbing walls.

Here's mine, consists of 50 holds (the kit from City Rock), a bunch of extra star nuts and 2 wooden holds (made myself). Currently have 3 more wooden holds which need some shaping before they go up.

This is an old wall that was in the garage - added a couple of bolts to the wall and there you have it.
2x bolts (one at the top and another at the bottom) for swinging 8)
For the bottom we just placed it onto of bricks/wood (in order to make sit starts more comfortable/better).
The mat is one that we had made sometime ago.

The only issue is the wall getting wet - but not so much in Montagu :)

I see the other photo fell off.

Here's a more recent photo. 2.2m wide, with a final height (added another piece which is not in the photo) of around 2.6m. Angle is fully adjustable

What angles have you guys got? You can measure with clinometer app on phone if not sure.

The angle is adjustable, currently set at 14degrees for getting the wall nicely laid out, as well as testing the homemade holds (so far I have made 8 wooden holds).

Once happy that it's solid I'll move to 20deg. I reckon fully flattened out I'll be able to get around 30degrees as is and if I shorten the vertical legs 45deg is a possibility.

Two standard panel widths, 45 and 25 respectively, most holds from SiekstickGrips (local Pta based company, high quality products at very reasonable pricing, check them out).

Good stuff guys. Nice holds HJ, might need to round those edges or they might trash your skin.
