Legoland, new top anchor

Post by justin »

The Montagu Bolting Fund replaced the top anchor of The Life and Times of Mike Hunt - the existing top anchor (a maillon) was approaching the half way mark.

Please do not hesitate to top rope through (using) the fixed top anchors (as apposed to top roping on quickdraws).

What? That Maillon still had years of service left! LOL just kidding, but its in WAY better condition than some of the gear I met in France, guides really abuse the stuff to death there, it sonly their clients lives after all.

Thanks for caring Justin! Is LEGOLAND / Bosch Kloof open for climbing these days?? (Excuse me being VERY out of touch with the status quo  )

Hey Greg,
Legoland is open to climbing, Boschkloof (same owner) is not. We're looking at (hopefully) opening Boschkloof towards the end of this year.

I like to think (hope) that I have seen it all.

Right?

It’s tempting to thread the rope through the chains and lower off, letting everyone toprope through the fixed hardware.
Don’t—it’s a sin and you know it. Repeated lowering will wear out the chain or rings faster than any other abuse.

Spain is another level up from France again. I've seen some lower offs there that made me shudder!
