TRAPPIESKOP SAFE HIKE AND SAFE CLIMB:
Another combined safe hiking and climbing event organised jointly by SafeSouthHikes and members of the Mountain Club of South Africa
The area will be secured as a "safe zone" between the hours of 9am and 2pm. Hikers should aim to start walking at 9am and can expect to be up to the top and back down to the start within about 2 hours. However the area will still be secured until 2pm to allow the climbers more time to get the most out of the day.
First time climbers, novice and experienced climbers are all welcome!
Hikers and young kids who wish to try climbing will be able to use this opportunity!
Climbing leaders, belayers and safety offiicials will be strictly managing the sport climbing routes, particularly for the first time and novice climbers.
The hike is a fairly easy route with a short steep section at the last stretch going up to the top of the peak. Hike suitable for all ages, young to old, bring the family!
VERY IMPORTANT:
Parents are to please take complete responsibility for the safety and behaviour of their children, particularly on top of Trappieskop peak where there are steep drop offs and possible falling hazards if the kids scramble on the rocks.
