How to Watch the Climbing Olympics

Post by ThomasLuger »

Hi guys,

I am absolutely desperate to watch the Climbing Olympics. I do not have DSTV Premium nor and any other paid streaming service. I would like to watch the climbing. Please let me know if you have any idea of how to do this.

Thanks and enjoy your climbing everyone,
Thomas

Step 1. Sign up for a BBC account -
URL https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/live/bbcone
you will give them you name & email address. You will need to verify your email.
Then when you try to view the BBC1 iplayer LIVE, it will tell you that your region is not supported.

Step 2. Sign up with Getflix - they offer a free 14 day trial. I've used them for years. They are 100% legit.
URL https://www.getflix.com.au/ (it might redirect to a .com)

Step 3. You will need to add the ZA DNS to you DNS settings (see their setup guides here https://www.getflix.com.au/setup/)
Even easier is to download their app onto you phone & computer. Start the App. Set it to ON

Step 4. Go back to https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/live/bbcone You will now see everything LIVE.

GetFlix tells the BBC that you are a UK visitor vs being a dodgy South African :jocolor:

And now you also have access to ALL SORTS of channels that the rest of the world get to watch. Free for 14 DAYS. It's worth the price to pay for the services.

Let us know how it goes. Do a trail run now so that you are ready for the 3rd of August @ 10am South Africa Time.

Sheesh Justin that sounds way too complicated.
You can just come to CityROCK - both our gyms will be live screening the competition.
www.cityrock.co.za

We will also be doing a rescreening at night as the comp is mostly during daytime working hours.

Is there a way to watch the full replay instead of it live as I will be at school?

@Thomas - Thanks from all us for your sweet acknowledgements
You should be able to watch the full replay via the BBC channel
I found more info on it here - https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/tv-prov ... IHY5O9zjOb
Best just sign up & see for yourself - I'm busy watching the gymnastics replay now.

@Robert - But what about the gymnastics, diving & skateboarding!
I'm sure IT support can help you using my instructions.

@Justin - Did/Do you want a greencard? :bom:

Surfing was a bit of an anticlimax with poor conditions, highlight was seeing British commentators try and pronounce Bianca Buitendag, up there with their efforts on Tatiana Schoenmaker.

Chris will be the first climber out in all 3 disciplines tomorrow.

He will run his first speed run in lane A at 10am SA time, with a guy called Jonwong Chong running in lane B. He will run his second run about 15 minutes later in lane B. His quickest time will count as his qualifier.

He will start bouldering at 11:00. He will have 5 (maybe 4 only) minutes to attempt the first boulder problem. Once the time is up he then gets 5 (or 4) minutes rest before he started the next problem. I think there are 3 Boulder problems to complete. There is a zone hold and a top on each Boulder. The fewer attempts to the zone and the top, the better.

At 14:10 Chris will start the lead climb. Although he has 6 minutes, he is likely to fall of or get to the top before time is up. The higher up the wall the better.

His position in each discipline will be multiplied together to give a final score. The climbers with the 8 lowest scores go to the finals.

So a 10th, a 5th and a 12th will give a score of 600 while a 2nd, a 1st and a 4th will give a score of 8.

Alex and producer John Burgman walk us through the upcoming competition, make their picks for the gold and explain why the world’s best climber is probably the underdog.

Hey Is anyone trying to watch the climbing at the Olympics? It doesn't seem to be showing on the BBC iPlayer OR DSTV :(
Maybe they will only show the finals?
@Justin?

BBC not showing, you can get a monthly subscription to Discovery +, not sure if that's UK only.

Yeah, he did! Looked like he could have made it further in lead, but slipped off to his own surprise.

Regardless, he can be proud, he held his own amongst the very best.

The tention on Jakob's final lead climb was mad, I'm sure Ondra was using the force to try and make him fall.

Ondra should have taken Gold and must feel gutted. Had he topped it was a done deal. Can't believe he fell where and when he did considering his pedigree.
