Hey, my trusty OR Goretex jacket just started shedding seam tape. It's been used heavily for a good 7 years so I'm not surprised but here's my question;
Can I use Wader heat tape to retape the seams? I can't find proper goretex seam tape anywhere in SA and the alternative is that transparent stuff you get here and it's flipping expensive... but I found this: https://www.theflyfishingshop.co.za/pro ... heat-tape/
It looks pretty spot on?? And not that expensive...
Anyone had any experience with this?

Re: Goretex seam tape repair with wader tape
Hey thanks for that. I ended up ordering that Wader tape. BTW that shop is flipping amazing. 3 hours after I placed the order the stuff was at my door. It looks legit. I'm going to iron it on later and see but it looks like the real stuff. Fabric texture, not like the plastic stuff I've seen so far.
If it doesn't work I'll try Gone, know the guys

Re: Goretex seam tape repair with wader tape
I got a roll of tenacious tape to repair the seals on my goretex jack but have unfortunately not gotten around to doing the repair so can't comment on this further until the weekend at least.
However, I did some tests with the iron on tape first on scrap fabric. I was not comfortable with how much heat was required to get it to melt properly. However, it is much cheaper so probably worth a try, just be careful.

Re: Goretex seam tape repair with wader tape
Hey I finally got around to put that stuff on. I second the concern about the heat. I had to do it 3 times until they were all stuck on... kept coming loose... I assume I didn't press long enough to melt it properly... The problem with this tape (as apposed to the plastic ones I've seen online) is you don't get that "wet effect" when it melts... so I have no idea how long to iron it on...
Uggg migth have to completely redo the whole thing in due time but let's see. For now it looks like it's sticking
