Winter Boven Climbing partner

Post by CaraCormack »

Hi :)

I am looking to spend the majority of winter in Boven to focus on climbing. I am a qualified hiking and river guide and really hoping to progress to a point where I can add climbing to my scope in the near future - so although I am looking to connect with the area and community - I have a specific objective that I am hoping to keep my focus on this season.

I acknowledge the type of climbing journey I am hoping to get on may not be too appealing for most, seeing as I am mostly looking to learn as much (I hardly have any experience on multi pitch and trad) as I can and push my personsal boundaries.

So ideally I am hoping to find someone who would be willing to take me under their wing and mentor me in all things climbing for the season.

I have brought with me a full sport set up (70m rope and 12 draws)I have my own personal gear with me, shoes, helmet harness etc.

I have an understanding of the technical skills as I have completed my single pitch rock climbing guide course (its just the actual climbing part I need to work on- and maybe refine the nuances of the technical stuff)

Same goes from an abseiling point of view (setting up natural anchors etc) - which I'm hoping to carry into some trad experience.

The actual climbing, because my work keeps me in the field, I don't get much time to actually dedicate to climbing - I am sending about a 19 in the gym (on lead) and taking rests on 20's 21's. Outdoors - I dont know, I hardly get time to get onto real rock enough to get consistent results, if I'm getting out maybe twice in a month I'm probably leading about a 17 or 18.

Trad - I've followed a couple of times (maybe 4 times) its hard to gauage because everything seems easier on toprope.

I'm not a boulderer so I'm not really practiced in strong hard climbing, but eager to get there (whether it be through sport, trad etc)

I'm very used to roughing it on multiday excursions. So no adventure seems too big a challenge for me - just looking for the right guidance and mentor to get through these types of adventures safely.

Would love you to get in touch.
