Hi All,
This is more of a hiking question than a climbing question.
Im new to cape town and have a mate coming down to visit soon.
We are looking at heading out of town for a long weekend where we can hit an over night hike, crash under the stars or a cave, have a river close by for a swim and get away from the crowds.
If there is some easy sport climbing around that would be cool and then I will bring my gear.
Are there any areas where I can look at, I havent explored any of the surrounding cape areas yet so dont really know whats on offer.
I have been told to check out Cederberg but I have heard that parts of it is closed due to fires.
Any suggestions are welcomed.
Thanks,
Rob.

You can get overnight hiking permits for the Rocklands area and there are sport crags; I don't know of any good camping spots near the crags though. There's also a lot of boulderers in the area at the moment.

Cederberg is your best bet, or some of the MCSA properties.
You can still climb and hike in the Western Cederberg. Check out Sneeuberg and the Pup (good aspect for winter). The MCSA Wydekloof/Turret Peak property has been getting a lot of attention lately too.

Happy climbing
