The yearly gathering of rock climbers has once again come around!
Whether you’ve only climbed indoors or crush rock every weekend this event is to bring climbers from all walks of life together.

Originally started by Stuart Brown, the Montagu Rock Rally has been taking place since the early 2000s. The event is a fund raiser for The Anchor Replacement Fund (ARF) will assist toward non-profit organisations for youth climbing development

The Rules are Simple
The rally is all about climbing and scoring will be based on climbing as much as possible and/or as hard as possible, different categories will be allocated so everyone will have a chance to win prizes.
Climbers will arrive either the day before (Friday) or early Saturday morning, at 8:30 we will have a short briefing and costume showcase.
After which the chaos will begin and competitors will have until 19:00 to climb as many routes as possible and submit their score.
Once scoring is done we will have a prize giving and then party the night away.
Costs
The Rally is R100 per person.
(The first 100 to register will receive a free T-shirt)

What to bring
• Climbing gear (shoes, harness, helmet, rope and quickdraws)
• Permits if you want to climb in Bosch Kloof
• Fancy, colourful clothes (there will be prizes for best dressed)
• Hat and sunscreen
• Warm clothing
• Food and drink (Beer and boerewors rolls will be sold on Saturday night)

The festival had about 1500 participants, creating the largest party I have ever seen after any Rally. There were kayakers sliding down the stretch tent roof, rider sliding down a long line of couches and pole climbers/dancers doing their thing.
